How Warner Bros. Recruits Using Social Media

Warner Bros. uses social media to deliver its employer brand message to a global audience in order to broadcast job openings, provide useful career advice, and share employee benefits and news.

Tools used: They employ a combination of tools, including LinkedIn (a group for alumni as well as one for professional career networking), Facebook (for internships and professional careers), Twitter, and YouTube.

Results: In 2009, Warner Bros. had an 85 percent reduction in annual outside agency costs, in 2010 it reduced its planned spend on traditional job boards by 10 percent, and in 2011 reduced costs by an additional 10 percent! Warner Bros. has received over 8,000 resumes on LinkedIn since launch, and the number of candidates that stated they learned about opportunities from LinkedIn has increased by over 300 percent in the past year. Warner Bros. engages nearly 14,000 fans on Twitter (@WBCareers) by helping them learn more about the company, sharing resources, and responding to questions.
